Conference Objectives are: to join the efforts of various scholars of the Humanities in order to study interdisciplinary issues that are related to understanding the causes and effects of the complex historic processes in USSR and Russia at the end of the XX century.
The year 1991 is a turning point in the contemporary history of Russia. Major geopolitical, social, economic changes influenced considerably the people’s destiny not only on the territory of the USSR, but also almost on the whole Eurasian continent. Today, 20 years after, there are new opportunities for analysing in a more detailed way the cause and effect relations of the major historic events of that time, to estimate the unique or typical character of the revolutionary changes that took place in Russia in the end of the XX century, comparing to the history of other countries and periods.
The lectures of invited speakers, which are to be discussed at the plenary session and four workshops, will be the core of the conference. One of the workshops will be dedicated to the discussion of the results of the scientific projects concerning the Russian people’s collective memory research of the 1990’s events.
